The Fw 190 D-9 is a rank III German fighter with a battle rating of 5.0 (AB/RB) and 5.7 (SB). It was introduced in Update 1.37 . The Fw 190 D-9 is considered by many to be the best prop plane Germany has at 6.0 battle rating and below, and for good reason.

The FW-190 was not for no reason considered the more advanced and better of the Luftwaffe's two primary single-engined fighters. The D-9 itself was the Luftwaffe's best low-to-medium altitude fighter during WWII.. The Tempest really out-does the D9 below 3km in every respect, so the 4-6km bracket is an important rule of thumb. The FW-190 was to replace the 109 and the Mustang the P-40 and P-38 and the generational differences were obvious in both cases although the earlier airplanes were only a few years old.
